Necklace

I am STILL waiting for my doll class, so I made this necklace for my daughter. It is tiger wire with paper butterflies. It turned out pretty good. The picture just does not do justice for this little necklace. I think jewelry is a great diversion to doll making when there is drying time. :)

What is it?

Believe it or not, this puff of cotton is actually an insect. I just happened to see it moving and ran and got the camera.

So many odd bugs in this wonderful world!

Recycle, Recycle

Ok, so I had to wait a little longer for the class to start. I made this bracelet from magazine pages. It is pretty cute, don’t ya think?

My First Bracelet

Waiting for my online doll class to start, so I decided to try my hand at jewelry. This is my first bracelet and I am quite pleased! I think I have found a great in-between hobby! :)

Harp Stool Finished!

I am taking an online class to make a figure playing a harp. I have finished the stool and the materials I used are very interesting. Here are pictures of my stool. :)

Playing Catchup

Ok, I have posted three separate articles. I have been behind in my blogging, but I have been taking pics, so I stopped to share them. :)

New Online Class

I am taking Jean Bernard’s new online class for the vessel harp and stool. I have started the stool and it is my first time working with apoxy sculpt.

Interesting stuff…it works like clay only very sticky. It hardens overnight without baking and it sticks to most anything. The class calls for black apoxy sculpt, but I had to order it. I had natural on hand, so I used it. Since this pic, I have gessoed and painted the seat black. The paint looks good, so the apoxy takes paint well.

I am enjoying the process so far. :)

Woodpeckers

I have woodpeckers all around me. I love to watch them. My presence does not seem to bother them any. :)

Bathroom Accessories

There was an ugly towel rack in my master bath when I bought my house. I did not want it there, so I took it down. Uh oh…what will I put there?

I decided to use hooks instead. And, being a crafty person, I wanted to make them. Ok, so I went to Hobby Lobby and found the cutest hooks. I bought three wooden plaques and painted them with gesso. Ok, my friends all know that I can’t paint to save my life, but I decided to give it a go. I painted the plaques with a coat of brown and yellow mixed. Then I watered the mixture down, added a bit more brown and painted the edges. I used my drill to make nail holes in the backs and then I attached the hooks to the plaques with screws. The screws were a silver color and stood out like sore thumbs. So, I painted them black and voila!

I like the way they turned out. :)DSCF0451

Creative Block? Understatement of the YEAR!!!!!

Ok, laugh if you must, but I have a real problem.

I have wonderful ideas for artistic expression and can actually see my creations in my head that I want to create. But when I sit down to do it....the execution just is not there!!!

I have to admit, I have always been a technical thinker. I have a creative heart, but my brain...well that is another story altogether. I could not even do the zentangles without instruction. Now who has to LEARN to doodle? I finally watched a Zentangles with PJ video that took me step by step and I was able to make a small doodle card. PATHETIC!

Oh...by the way...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :)

Thanks for letting me vent!

Artist Trading Card

I am participating in an ATC swap using a hand carved stamp. I started by carving stamps with my daughter. Although I like the stamp I carved, my daughter’s stamp provided me with more inspiration.

Going with her stamp, I decided on an Asian themed card. I chose to use an Asian woman as the focal point of the card. Little did I know the black ink was out in my printer. The ladies came out purple! Well, I decided to try the printout as it was.

I sanded playing cards I bought for a dollar/pack and coated them with gesso. Then, I used distress inks to layer color on the cards. I used Antique Linen, Straw, and Marigold. Then I glued the purple lady to the card.

I printed oriental writing on a transparency and stitched it to the card. I punched a hole in the card and inserted an eyelet.

Next, I made a stamp out of polymer clay by flattening a ball of clay and making a symbol out of snakes of clay. I baked it and then used it to stamp my elements.

I strung the element and an additional bead on and put them through he eyelet on the card.

I added card stock on the back of the ATC and stamped my name.

Viola! Fin!

My First Domino

I made my first altered domino and I am quite pleased with it. I used distress ink, stazon ink, a face stamp, perfect pearls powder, gold marker, and a snowflake embellishment. I plan to make plenty more.
